This free case converter turns any text into UPPERCASE, lowercase, Sentence case, Title Case and seven more styles in one click. It helps writers fix headlines, marketers tidy copy and developers create slugs and variable names without retyping.

How to use the case converter

  1. Paste or type your text into the input box. It can be a single word, a headline or several paragraphs.
  2. Click the case you want: UPPER CASE, lower case, Sentence case, Title Case, Capitalize Each Word, aLtErNaTiNg, iNVERSE, kebab-case, snake_case, camelCase, PascalCase or CONSTANT_CASE.
  3. Review the converted text. If it is not right, click another case. Your original text is the source each time, so you can try several styles in a row.
  4. Press Copy result to send the result to your clipboard, or download it as a file.
  5. Paste the result into your CMS, spreadsheet, code editor or design file.

The conversion happens in your browser. Your text is not uploaded, which matters when you are handling client copy or unreleased product names.

The 12 cases and when to use each

UPPERCASE and lowercase

The fast way to go from uppercase to lowercase when text was pasted with caps lock on, or to shout a warning label on purpose.

Sentence case

Capitalizes the first letter of each sentence. Best for body text, meta descriptions and UI labels.

Title Case

Capitalizes main words and keeps small words like a, and and of lower case. Standard for headlines and page titles.

Capitalize Each Word

Capitalizes every word without exceptions. Useful for names, product lists and menu items.

aLtErNaTiNg and iNVERSE

Playful styles for social posts and design mockups. Inverse flips the case of every letter.

kebab-case and snake_case

Words joined by hyphens or underscores. Kebab-case suits URL slugs and CSS classes; snake_case suits database columns and Python.

camelCase and PascalCase

Words joined with no separator and a capital at each new word. Common for variables, functions and class names.

CONSTANT_CASE

Uppercase words joined by underscores, used for constants and environment variables.

One phrase in every case

This table converts the same phrase so you can see how each style behaves. Alternating and inverse are left out because their result depends on the original letters.

Notice the difference between Title Case and Capitalize Each Word. A title case converter leaves "of" and "and" in lower case, which is what most style guides expect. Capitalizing every word is simpler but looks heavy in long headlines.

Title Case or Sentence case for headlines

There is no ranking benefit in either style. Google reads Link Building Guide and Link building guide as the same words. The choice is about brand voice and readability, so pick one rule and use it everywhere.

Title Case feels formal and is common in news, books and B2B sites. Sentence case reads as friendlier, scans faster on mobile and is easier to keep consistent, because you only need to remember proper nouns. Many product and software teams use it for buttons, menus and error messages.

Whatever you choose, apply it to titles, H1s, H2s and navigation labels. Mixed styles on one page look careless. Run each headline through the converter, then check the final title in the SERP Simulator to see how it looks in a result.

Case conversion for URLs and code

Case matters more in URLs and code than in prose. URL paths are case sensitive on most servers, so /Link-Building/ and /link-building/ can be treated as different pages. That risks duplicates and broken links. Keep all URLs lower case.

Google also recommends using hyphens, not underscores, to separate words in a URL. Its URL structure guidance explains that hyphens help it see the words. That makes kebab-case the right choice for slugs, and snake_case the wrong one.

For code, follow the conventions of your language. JavaScript uses camelCase for variables and PascalCase for classes. Python uses snake_case. Environment variables and constants use CONSTANT_CASE. Converting a phrase into the right format saves typing and typos.

Common mistake: converting a title to lower case and publishing it as a URL without removing punctuation. Slugs should contain only letters, numbers and hyphens, so check the result before you save it.

Clean-up jobs this tool saves you from

Most people reach for a case converter to fix a mess, not to style a headline. These are the jobs it handles best.

Text copied from a PDF or an old spreadsheet often arrives in capitals. Click lower case, then Sentence case, and it is readable again in seconds. Product feeds are another common case: a supplier sends names in UPPERCASE and your store needs Title Case. Convert a column at a time by pasting it in, then paste it back.

It also helps with consistency across a team. When three writers use three title styles, one pass through the converter evens out every headline before an edit. Keep proper nouns and acronyms in mind: after any bulk change, scan for brand names such as iPhone or SEO that a rule may have changed, and fix them by hand.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert uppercase to lowercase?

Paste your text, then click the lower case button. Every letter changes to small letters at once, and you can copy the result or download it. This is the quickest fix for text typed with caps lock on, and it works on a single word or many paragraphs.

What is the difference between Title Case and Capitalize Each Word?

Title Case capitalizes the main words but keeps short words such as a, and and of in lower case. Capitalize Each Word capitalizes every word without exception. Use Title Case for headlines and Capitalize Each Word when you want a uniform look, such as for names or menu items.

Which case should I use for URLs?

Use lower case with hyphens, which is kebab-case. Paths are case sensitive on many servers, so mixed case can create duplicate pages, and Google recommends hyphens over underscores. Convert the page title to kebab-case, then remove stop words and punctuation by hand.

Does capitalization affect SEO?

Not for how Google understands your words. Heading and title capitalization is a style choice, not a ranking factor. Case does matter in URLs and in code, where it can create duplicate pages or errors, so keep slugs lower case and follow your language's conventions.

What is camelCase and when do I use it?

camelCase joins words with no spaces and capitalizes each word after the first, as in pageTitleText. Developers use it for variables and function names in JavaScript, Java and many other languages. Its cousin PascalCase also capitalizes the first letter and is used for classes and components.

Is my text uploaded when I convert it?

No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser, so your text stays on your device. Nothing is sent to a server or saved, which makes the tool safe for private drafts, client copy and internal names. Reloading the page clears the box.
